I have to be honest and say I really don't particularly like these. However: comfortable (but very plain, I mean reaeeelly plain) holiday houses situated at the edge of an attractive village (all essential shops a short stroll) close to the famous seaside resort of Royan. Excellent beaches barely 10 minutes drive away at Royan as well as all along the Cote Sauvage. Nearby La Palmyre has all shops, banks, a good market three times a week and some very good restaurants. Big towns of Royan and Saintes not far. Bring bikes: wonderful cycling country. Swimming pool (fenced) and large grounds. Kiddy play area. Each house has microwave, 2 electric hobs but no oven, communal BBQ, garden furniture. There are shared washing machines available. The smaller houses have one bedroom, but sleep 4 with two children in the living room, and the larger ones have two bedrooms (one double bed and two singles) and sleep 4-6 people (if one uses the living room). Linen 20 Euros pp, pw (expensive!). Breakages 250 Euros (also expensive!). All prices are net to the owner

The site is part of an eleventh century abbey, really quite fascinating! Trizay has a few essential shops nearby and is surrounded by quiet countryside. Beautiful lakes for water sports and lakeside beach (barely 5 minutes walk); excellent restaurant. Each flat has a washing machine and the larger of the two also has a dishwasher. Large shared grounds & garden furniture. Nearest beach probably Fouras, though Royan or Marennes beaches easier to reach - 20 mins or so in the car. Down-side: the gardens are open to the public and the WC cubicles are so tiny that I don't see how one can ... oh well.

Fine for a holiday but no "charm" of any kind which is part of the whole point in coming to France. Washing machine, dishwasher, microwave. Breakages deposit 350 Euros ( ridiculous actually).

Only three or four other houses in a little forested lane. Beach apprx 20-30 minutes' drive, the closest beach being probably at Royan. Brand new pools, not sunk in to the ground, ie not for serious swimming but most pleasant for general use. Properly equipped and nicely kitted out and furnished, tastefully decorated. All most pleasant. Linen can be hired - please ask.

undemanding little place
beach house on Marennes beach - 50 metres or so one bedrooms, living/bedroom (sofa-bed) and kitchen-diner good-sized enclosed garden with BBQ etc properly equipped but plain and simple We used to walk George, our Great Dane, on this beach almost every day so it is an area I know well. (He died while we were in Istanbul a few months ago - he was 12, which is really old for a Great Dane.) Nice little promenade with a few bars & small restaurants, lots of sand. Around there are houses similar to this one and a couple of camp-sites. Excellent for families with children of any age but absolutely not up-market in any way.
