Situated approx four miles from the nearest beach (Marennes), this pretty little chateau (sleeps 12-14*.) is set at the edge of the village of St Just-Luzac, half an hour's drive south of the famous ancient port of La Rochelle and quarter of an hour north of the well-known seaside resort of Royan. people come back to this property more than once, a very good sign. Charmingly decorated and furnished with everything you could need for a comfortable holiday in a lovely setting. GOLF, CHATEAUX, WINES, BEACHES, MARKETS.
On your map you will find St Just on the mainland opposite the island of Oleron. The area is rich in history and boasts the best climate in France with as many hours of sunshine as the Mediterranean coast.

The chateau makes an ideal holiday venue, summer and winter alike and as well as families enjoying a break in la belle France, it has often hosted wedding parties, modelling shoots, cycling and wine-tasting groups. Out of high and peak season we sometimes, by prior arrangement only, take groups of up to 50 people by using the cottages too. The Chateau can link to the cottages via the back path that leads through the woodland..

These delightful quality cottages have recently been totally renovated, the original buildings dating back as far as 1610. There is a wealth of exposed timbers and stone walling all the while being properly kitted out for modern living with all mod cons and plenty of space. They are situated at the edge of the village of St Just, just a few miles from sandy beaches (the nearest being Marennes - pick up a tide timetable! Miles of other beaches nearby). St Just has all essential shops. The area is rich in history and there is plenty to do and see. The same families come back year after year, which tells us everything we need to know. Wonderful property very close to the centre of the famous ancient port of La Rochelle with its rich selection of shops and restaurants, ancient stone arcades, markets, yachts, bars and museums. Nearby is golf, sandy beaches and the wonderful island of Re. The Logis is fully equipped and is set in beautiful gardens. Swimming pool. Very pleasant to walk to the restaurants in the town centre.

The town of Marennes (famous for oysters) is five minutes in the car, and the lively seaside resort of Royan about ten minutes. peace and quiet, yet close to everything.

Group of six cottages with a pool, all brand new and most attractive. Situated in the little market town of Bourcefranc, though the local beach is small and grotty. However, Marennes beach not far. All shops and some excellent restaurants. The area is very flat so bring your bikes (or hire them in the village) for it is great fun to cycle around here and there are cycle tracks everywhere. The cottages each have their own private garden/patio area with BBQ and can join via the patios if required. Childrens play area.
There are four, three bedroomed cottages: bedroom with double bed, bedroom with a pair of bunk beds and a bedroom/mezzanine with two single beds; dishwasher, TV, microwave, washing machine, etc. all most attractively kitted out with fully equipped kitchens.

1 bedroomed property with exclusive use of the swimming pool and large garden. Short stroll to all shops and market, beach approx. 15 minutes walk, ancient port of Marennes, good restaurants. The property has only one bedroom (double bed and single bed) and is a slightly odd arrangement with most of the rooms being upstairs, yet has a marvellous pool and garden. Living room with TV, kitchen with washing machine, bathroom, patio with barbeque and garden furniture. A fourth person can sleep on the sofa-bed and sometimes folk pitch a little tent in the garden for the kids - but really not suitable for more than 4 people. Linen 70 Euros job lot. Breakages 200 Euros. Ideal location, tranquil yet close to everything. Sweet, though personally I'd be a bit worried if I had toddlers - the security alarm is all very well, but it takes just a few moments for a child to drown.

I have to be honest and say I really don't particularly like these. However: comfortable (but very plain, I mean reaeeelly plain) holiday houses situated at the edge of an attractive village (all essential shops a short stroll) close to the famous seaside resort of Royan. Excellent beaches barely 10 minutes drive away at Royan as well as all along the Cote Sauvage. Nearby La palmyre has all shops, banks, a good market three times a week and some very good restaurants. Big towns of Royan and Saintes not far. Bring bikes: wonderful cycling country. Swimming pool (fenced) and large grounds. Kiddy play area. Each house has microwave, 2 electric hobs but no oven, communal BBQ, garden furniture. There are shared washing machines available. The smaller houses have one bedroom, but sleep 4 with two children in the living room, and the larger ones have two bedrooms (one double bed and two singles) and sleep 4-6 people (if one uses the living room).
Linen 20 Euros pp, pw (expensive!).

All the houses are of a very high standard, beautifully appointed and well equipped. Dishwashers, washing machines, linen, cots, high chairs etc available. Each house has 2 bath/shower rooms and Wcs, spacious rooms and attractive gardens each with their own brand new pool. There are lovely views in all directions. Excellent for children as each pool has a security alarm.
This is in the Vendee, not the Charente Maritime where all the other properties on this site are, close to a chateau village called Bourneau, more-or-less half way between Nantes and La Rochelle. The beach would take you about an hour by car. A very lovely area. |

Lovely sunsets to watch over the sea, and views of the island of Oleron and the ocean. The picture with the table shows the view of the beach and sea, though it is difficult to make out, I realize. All smart and nicely kitted-out, I really like it. Small seaside promenade with a couple of little restaurants, sandy beach and also man-made lagoon for kiddies when the tide is out. Close to all water sports, but note not a surfing beach and muddy when the tide is out (hence the lagoon). Excellent. Great for children.

A fine old manoir in a village close to Royan where there are miles of sandy beach. Most tastefully arranged, quality furnishings and fully equipped. Huge fully fitted kitchen, big living room, 2 bathrooms, 3 WCs, 8 bedrooms, large grounds with no neighbours apart from the caretaker. Linen, towels, cot and high chair can be provided - please ask. The pool area is gorgeous but not fenced-in: the patio doors can be closed-off and there is a gate to one side so it is relatively kiddy-proof. full till 4 Sept.

Situated in a hamlet close to the lovely seaside village of La Cotiniere, a modern villa approx 300m from sandy beaches. Two bedrooms (two double beds and a single), very big living room with TV, bath/shower room, kitchen with dishwasher, utility room with washing machine and a garden with garden furniture, as well as a BBQ Linen & towels 55 Euros job lot. Breakages 150 Euros. Wonderful location. Excellent situ. I love it. |

Having said that it is an excellent situ, the house itself is very plain & done with absolutely no imagination - bare essentials, very serviceable. Fine for a holiday but no "charm" of any kind which is part of the whole point in coming to France. Washing machine, dishwasher, microwave. Breakages deposit 350 Euros ( ridiculous actually). |

Ancient traditional properties renovated to a very high standard. All have TVs, dishwashers, washing machines, microwaves and are properly and fully kitted out with fitted kitchens. All are big, spacious and light., tastefully decorated and arranged. Private patio areas as well as communal grounds.
- One gite with 3 bedrooms and three bath/shower rooms, TV in each bedroom. Up to 2 extras on sofa/put-u-up. Cost 1579 Euros pw.
- Three gites with 2 bedrooms . Sofa beds/bunks/put-u-ups for extras. Cost 1200 Euros pw.
There are 4 B & B rooms with en-suite bathrooms @ a max of 120 Euros per night for extra guests; weekly rate can be negotiated. Some of the B & B rooms are right next to the gites, so ideal for larger parties. Prices include utilities but not linen which can be hired @ 14 Euros pp. Cots & high chairs available - please ask.
Situated near the little seaside town of Marennes (all shops, banks, restaurants, attractive port, beach etc). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. |

properly equipped but plain and simple
We used to walk George, our Great Dane, on this beach almost every day so it is an area I know well. (He died while we were in Istanbul a few months ago - he was 12, which is really old for a Great Dane.) Nice little promenade with a few bars & small restaurants, lots of sand. Around there are houses similar to this one and a couple of camp-sites. Excellent for families with children of any age but absolutely not up-market in any way.
